Super Bowl IV Super Bowl History January 11 1970 in Tulane Stadium New Orleans 1970 Super Bowl IV MVP Len Dawson, QB, KC Chiefs Kicking legend Jan Stenerud, of the Kansas City Chiefs, kicked three field goals to put the Chiefs up 9-0. KC quarterback Len Dawson rifled 12 completions in 17 attempts, including a 47 yard pass to Otis Taylor for the final Kansas City touchdown. The Minnesota Vikings gained just 67 yards rushing and the powerful defense of the Chiefs forced five turnovers, and yielded just one Viking TD. By winning the Super Bowl the AFL moved to a 2 wins apiece tie with the older more established NFL. Super Bowl IV was the last Super Bowl before the merger of the AFL and NFL.
